Yr etholiad nesaf i’r Senedd yn 2026 fydd y pwysicaf ers sefydlu’r Cynulliad Cenedlaethol ym 1999.

Wrth gwrs, dywedir yn aml - "Bydd yr etholiad nesaf yn hollbwysig" - ond gadewch i mi egluro pam fod 2026 mor bwysig ac mor wahanol i eraill dros y 25 mlynedd diwethaf.

Yn gyntaf

Mae'r tirwedd gwleidyddol yn mynd trwy adliniad mawr, nid yn unig yng Nghymru ond ledled Ewrop a'r byd Gorllewinol.

Mae twf y dde eithafol yn bygwth y gwerthoedd o greu cymdeithas deg a chyfartal yr ydym ni ym Mhlaid Cymru wedi brwydro drosti ers 1925.  Yng Nghymru, gwelir hyn gyda twf plaid Reform Nigel Farage, yn UDA gyda ailethol Donald Trump ac ar draws Ewrop gan gynnydd y dde eithafol yn Ffrainc, yr Almaen, Hwngari a thu hwnt.

Mae arian gan fusnesau mawr, rhyngwladol yn cael ei ddefnyddio i hyrwyddo'r dde eithafol, ac yn unol â slogan amgylcheddwyr, mae'n rhaid i ni feddwl yn fyd-eang ond gweithredu'n lleol. Os na wnawn ni, yna bydd y bygythiad i ddatganoli, ein hiaith a hyd yn oed ein hunaniaeth genedlaethol yn enfawr.

Yn ail

Mae methianau y Blaid Lafur bellach yn amlwg i bawb. Mae Plaid Cymru wedi bod yn rhybuddio ers blynyddoedd lawer am y diffyg uchelgais ac egni y tu mewn i’r Blaid Lafur sydd dirfawr ei angen er mwyn mynd i’r afael â’n GIG sy’n dadfeilio a’n heconomi. Mae’r methiant hwn a’r endemig dilynol o wrthod bod yn atebol yn gwthio pobl tuag at ddewis arall, a dyna pam mae pobl yn cael eu temtio gan Reform. Rhaid i Blaid Cymru fod yr opsiwn amgen hwnnw sy’n cynnig ffordd gadarnhaol ymlaen i’n gwlad.

Yn drydydd

Bydd Senedd fwy yn dod â deinameg newydd yn ei sgil. Er nad y system bleidleisio yw’r STV yr oeddem ei heisiau fel plaid, bydd system gwbl gyfrannol yn dod a'r Wladwriaeth Un Blaid yr ydym wedi’i dioddef yng Nghymru ers dros 100 mlynedd i ben. RHAID inni fod yn barod i arwain Llywodraeth nesaf Cymru – ni ellir ystyried dim byd arall yn lwyddiant.

Mae’r ymgyrch etholiadol hon yn hollbwysig—brwydr dros ein dyfodol a’n gwerthoedd. Rhaid inni ymateb i'r her i'r eithaf. Mae gan bob un ohonom rôl i'w chwarae. Fel cynrychiolydd yn y Senedd bresennol, rwy’n barod i arwain yr ymgyrch yn ein hetholaeth. Gyda'n gilydd, rhaid inni wynebu ymchwydd brawychus y dde eithafol gyda phenderfyniad diwyro. Mae’r dewis yn llwm: dyfodol wedi’i arwain gan Blaid Cymru, neu llwybr peryglus eithafiaeth boblogaidd. 

Mae pobl Cymru yn mynnu newid ac mae’n rhaid i ni ym Mhlaid Cymru gyflawni’r newid hwnnw.

The next election to the Senedd in 2026 will be the most important since the creation of the National Assembly in 1999.

Of course, "The next election will be crucial" is often said, but let me explain why 2026 is so important and different from others over the last 25 years.

First

The political landscape is undergoing major realignment, not only in Wales but across much of Europe and the Western world.

The rise of the Populist far-right threatens the values of a fair and equal society that we in Plaid Cymru have fought for since 1925.  In Wales, this is seen from the rise of Nigel Farage's Reform Party, in the USA by the re-election of Donald Trump and across Europe by the rise of the far-right in France, Germany, Hungary and beyond.

Money from big, multi-national businesses is pouring into promoting the far right, and in keeping with the environmentalist slogan we must think global but act local.  If we don't, then the threat to devolution, our language and even our national identity will be huge.

Second

The repeated failure of the Labour Party is now clear for all to see.  Plaid Cymru has been warning for many years about the lack of ambition and drive inside the Labour Party that is so desperately needed to tackle our crumbling NHS and our stagnant economy.  This failure and the subsequent endemic of refusing to be held accountable is pushing people towards an alternative, which is why people are being tempted by Reform. Plaid Cymru must be that better option that offers a positive way forward for our country.

Third

 A larger Senedd will bring with it a new dynamic.  Though the voting system is not the STV we wanted as a party, a fully proportional system will spell the death of the One Party State that we have endured in Wales for over 100 years.  We MUST be ready to lead the next Welsh Government - nothing else can be considered a success.

This election campaign is pivotal—a battle for our future and values. We must rise to the challenge like never before. Every single one of us has a role to play. As a representative in the current Senedd, I stand ready to lead the campaign in our constituency. Together, we must confront the alarming surge of the far-right with unwavering resolve. The choice is stark: a future led by Plaid Cymru, or the perilous path of populist extremism. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

The Welsh people are demanding change and we in Plaid Cymru must deliver that change.
