Mae materion amgylcheddol a sicrhau ein bod yn gweithredu o ran yr argyfwng hinsawdd a natur yn bwysig dros ben imi.

Cyn, ac ers, imi gael fy ethol i'r Senedd, rwyf wedi ymgyrchu am fwy o gefnogaeth i gymunedau sy'n wynebu risg parhaus o lifogydd, o ran mesurau atal llifogydd a chefnogaeth ymarferol ac emosiynol. Arweiniais ymgyrch yn galw am ymchwiliad annibynnol i lifogydd 2020, ac er i Lafur Cymru wrthod, cafwyd adolygiad fel rhan o'r Cytundeb Cydweithio. Un o'r pethau rwyf yn ymgyrchu drosto yw sefydlu Fforwm Llifogydd i Gymru a hefyd gweddnewid y system ymchwilio i lifogydd.

Ynghlwm a hyn, wrth gwrs, mae'r angen am fuddsoddiad i sicrhau diogelwch tomenni glo. Gwyr yr etholaeth hon yn fwy na unrhyw etholaeth arall pa mor beryglus yw'r tomenni hyn yn sgil trychineb Aberfan, a bu i nifer ohonom ddychryn yn 2020 gweld tomen Pendyrus yn sgil Storm Dennis. Mae'n warth o beth bod llywodraethau San Steffan o bob lliw ddim wedi buddsoddi yn y tomenni hyn, a byddaf yn parhau i ymgyrchu am fwy o fuddsoddiad er mwyn eu diogelu a hefyd creu swyddi i bobl leol ynghlwm a'r gwaith.

Rwyf yn parhau i gefnogi ymgyrchwyr yn Glyncoch i wrthwynebu chwarel Craig yr Hesg ac ymgyrchu dros newid o ran polisiau cenedlaethol i wneud a chwareli yn agos at gymunedau. Mae'r ymgyrch o ran Ffos-y- Fran hefyd yn un bwysig nid dim ond yn lleol ond hefyd yn genedlaethol.

Environmental issues and ensuring that we act in terms of the climate and nature crisis are extremely important to me.

Before, and since, I was elected to the Senedd, I have campaigned for greater support for communities that face an ongoing risk of flooding, in terms of flood prevention measures and practical and emotional support. I led a campaign calling for an independent inquiry into the 2020 floods, and although Welsh Labour refused, there was a review as part of the Cooperation Agreement. One of the things I am campaigning for is the establishment of a Flood Forum for Wales and also the overhaul of the flood investigation system.

Linked to this, of course, is the need for investment to ensure the safety of coal tips. This constituency knows more than any other how dangerous these tips are as a result of the Aberfan disaster, and many of us were horrified in 2020 to see the Tylorstown tip slip as a result of Storm Dennis. It is a disgrace that Westminster governments of all colours have not invested in these tips, and I will continue to campaign for more investment in order to make them safe and also create jobs for local people involved in the work.

I continue to support campaigners in Glyncoch to oppose the Craig yr Hesg quarry and campaign for change in terms of national policies to ban quarrying in close proximity to communities. The campaign regarding Ffos-y-Fran is also an important one not only locally but also nationally.
